The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) works on behalf of hospitalists all over the country to bring a unified voice to the hospital medicine movement on both the national and local levels. SHM deals with issues including benchmarking hospitalist productivity, compensation and benefits, physician education, improving hospitalist practices, and quality satisfaction measures.
Chapters across the country often include hospital medicine professionals from that geographic area who meet to network, learn, teach, and continue the important work to improve patient care and health care delivery.
Join a Chapter
Below you will find a map with a listing of more than 30 SHM chapters. To learn more about a chapter, just click on the red marker that is closest to your location. Each link will take you to the chapter leader's contact information, past meeting summaries and a listing of upcoming events. You can also use the "Chapters Quick Find" drop-down menu on the right of your screen to find a chapter near you.
Start a Chapter
Being part of your local chapter will give you the opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with local colleagues while keeping in touch with the latest in the hospital medicine movement. If you discover that there is no chapter in your local area and you are interested in learning more about the steps to form an SHM Chapter, or if you have any other questions, please contact Chapters@hospitalmedicine.org.
Support a Chapter
Most Chapters allow industry professionals to set up a display table in the hour prior to the meeting to meet and talk with Chapter members. If you would like to inquire about display opportunities at a specific meeting, click on the red marker in that area and contact the chapter leader directly. If your organization would like to display at 10 or more meetings, please contact Kristin Scott at kscott@hospitalmedicine.org to discuss larger packages.
