The Key Principles and Characteristics of an Effective Hospital Medicine Group
An Assessment Guide for Hospitals and Hospitalists
The Key Principles and Characteristics are a framework designed for hospital medicine groups (HMGs) seeking a pathway to improve their capabilities and performance. Their goals are to:
- Be aspirational, helping to “raise the bar” for hospital medicine
- Provide a framework for HMGs seeking to conduct self-assessments
- Promote dialog between hospital executives and HMG leaders
Please contact KeyCharacteristics@hospitalmedicine.org if you have any questions.
New
The Society of Hospital Medicine's (SHM's) Practice Administrators' Committee has cross referenced the Key Principles and Characteristics with another framework — The Core Competencies for a Hospitalist Practice Administrator.
