In order to participate in the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine (FPHM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program, diplomates must pass the Hospital Medicine exam both to enter the program and once every ten years to maintain the FPHM designation. In order to maintain the FPHM designation, diplomates only need to take the Hospital Medicine exam. Diplomates are NOT required to take the Internal Medicine MOC exam to maintain the Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine designation.
